WATCH: American-Filipino gymnast Levi Jung-Ruivivar jumps in excitement to meet President after not being invited to the victory parade

American-Filipino gymnast Levi Jung-Ruivivar was recently in the news for being allegedly snubbed from the felicitation ceremony for the Olympians who represented the Philippines at the Paris Olympics.

However, the misunderstandings were resolved and Ruivivar was officially invited by the president of the Phillippines, Bongbong Marcos. A recent video of the gymnast went viral on Instagram, where she was jumping around in excitement at the very thought of meeting the Filipino president.

Levi Jung-Ruivivar was seen jumping around in the video, as she captioned the post writing-

"Can't contain my excitement!! Thank you to the President and his office for making the dream come true. Can't wait to see you all soon #phillippines"

According to Levi Jung-Ruivivar, she was a victim of misinformation and was disappointed upon missing the 'heroes parade' organized by the Filipino government.

She took to Instagram to share the details a couple of days ago, writing

"......On August 8th, I received a message that it was only for the medalists, Carlos, and the two bronze medalists, the boxers. I responded inquiring if that was in fact correct because I heard that all Olympians were invited. I never received a response or any further information. And I still haven't had any communication about it..."

Levi Jung-Ruivivar is the daughter of Hollywood actors Anthony Ruivivar and Yvonne Jung. She took to gymnastics when she was barely 18 months old. Ruivivar was born in the USA and even represented the country till 2023, when she relocated to her ancestral home in Phillippines.

Levi Jung-Ruivivar was a part of the four-member gymnastics team that represented Phillippines at the Paris Olympics. One man and three women represented the country in gymnastics at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Levi Jung-Ruivivar was not the only American-born gymnast to represent the Phillippines at the Paris Olympics as Aleah Finnegan and Emma Malabuyo were a part of the team as well, having represented both the USA and the Phillippines.

While Finnegan and Malabuyo qualified for the Paris Olympics by virtue of their performance at the World Championships, Levi Jung-Ruivivar had to compete at the FIG World Cup Series in 2024 to gain enough points to qualify for the Paris Olympics. Besides them, Carlos Yulo also qualified for the Paris Olympics courtesy of his performance at the 2023 World Championships.

Ruivivar stood in eighth position in the Baku leg of the FIG World Cup and bagged a silver medal in the uneven bars segment of the Doha leg of the FIG World Cup, which helped her gain enough points to qualify for the Paris Olympics. At the age of 18, she was one of the youngest gymnasts from the Phillippines to take part in the Paris Olympics.

Levi Jung-Ruivivar was the highest-ranked gymnast amongst the Filipino female gymnasts who took part in the Paris Olympics. However, her efforts proved to be futile, since she was ranked only 40th overall in the individual all-around qualifications. Aleah Finnegan stood 47th overall with a score of 50.498, while Emma Malabuyo stood 41st overall with a score of 51.099.

On the other hand, Carlos Yulo, who had already won multiple medals at the World Championships, shocked everyone by winning the gold medals in the vault and the floor exercise events at the Paris Olympics, becoming the first Filipino gymnast to achieve so.
