WATCH: Canadian Pole vaulter and Only Fans star Alysha Newman's 'twerking' celebration after winning bronze goes viral at Paris Olympics 2024
Alysha Newman made history at the Paris Olympics when she claimed bronze in the pole vault in style. After her medal-winning performance, the Canadian celebrated by twerking for the cameras, leaving audiences amazed.
Newman came into the 2024 Games as the underdog and was not a strong contender to make it to the podium. She had previously competed at the Rio and Tokyo Olympics, failing to move past the qualification stages each time.
However, it proved to be third time lucky for the 30-year-old as she made it through to the finals after clearing a mark of 4.55m in the qualification round. In the finals, the Canadian broke her own national record when she jumped a height of 4.85m, securing bronze behind Australia's Nina Kennedy and America's Katie Moon.
After successfully completing her medal-winning jump, Alysha Newman, who also models on OnlyFans, was quick to celebrate her accomplishment. Getting up from the mat, the pole-vaulter started running, then clutched her hamstring as if she'd injured herself, before twerking as the crowd cheered her on.

Alysha Newman on winning an Olympic medal
For Alysha Newman, the journey to her bronze medal at the Paris Olympics has been outlined by many challenges. Three months ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, the Canadian suffered a concussion after falling in a bathtub, which hampered her ability to perform at the Games.
She suffered more heartbreaks at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships, where she failed to make it through to the finals. Now, having finally won her first global medal, Newman says the bronze medal will help her get more opportunities to give back to the sport.
“Honestly, I think one thing I’ve always said to myself was like, I never felt done. I never felt like I was done giving back to the sport. I feel like this medal is only going to give me more of a voice. I feel like I want to build a track facility in Canada. I want to do some more stuff in the sport. And this bronze medal is going to help. And I think my dreams are bigger than medals. Maybe that sounds horrible, but it’s such a moment and I’m going to live in it,” she said (via National Post).
With her bronze at the Paris Olympics, Alysha Newman ended a 112-year-long pole vault medal drought for Canada.
