WATCH: Jade Carey delivers a stunning vault routine during women's team finals days after suffering ugly fall at Paris Olympics 2024
Jade Carey was no fluke as she delivered a stunning performance for Team USA in the women’s artistic team all-around at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Carey oozed class on the vault, earning America their first 14.400 points in the campaign for a gold medal.
Opening the routine for Team USA on the vault, Carey showcased her skills, implementing the Yurchenko double spike to earn her team the much-needed points. Her father, who doubles up as her coach Brian Carey, was clearly in awe of her performance as he smiled and clapped for her in the stands.
In a video shared by NBC Sport, the 24-year-old executed her favorite skill in great fashion, with the crowd cheering her on. The video was captioned:
"Jade Carey did NOT come to play. 😤. Starting things off strong for Team USA. #ParisOlympics."
Jade Carey proceeded to the uneven bars, where she intends to earn her team maximum points before heading to balance beam and floor exercise. She will also open the rotation on the uneven bars and balance beam. On the floor exercise, she will compete second behind Suni Lee.
Team USA, comprising Jade Carey, Suni Lee, Simone Biles, and Jordan Chiles, has been primed to win a gold medal in the team event and they hope to put in the work to yield good fruit.
Meanwhile, Simone Biles also proved formidable as she executed the Cheng technique to earn the team 14.900 points after Carey and Jordan Chiles (14.400 points).
The quartet will move to the uneven bars, and balance beam, then complete their cycle with the floor exercise.
Jade Carey explains reason behind the fall on the floor exercise on opening day at Paris Olympics 2024
All hopes rested on Jade Carey to deliver on the floor exercise, but she stumbled and fell in the event she was hoping to defend her title.
She won the gold medal in the event at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and her fall raised concern from her fans.
After day one, Carey disclosed to Olympics.com that she was not feeling well and had not eaten or hydrated enough, which was the reason behind her poor show at the Bercy Arena in the women’s qualifying round.
"I just have not been feeling well the past few days and haven't been able to eat or anything," Carey said.
"I had, like, no energy today and didn't really have a sense of what was going on in my head. So, I just kind of wanted people to know that so, they know that there's actually something wrong," she added.
However, she bounced back and has since qualified for the vault, where she recorded 14.433 points to sail her through to the final where she will team up with Simone Biles with the main focus being to take the top two medal slots.
