WATCH: Mondo Duplantis poses as the viral Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec after shattering world record at Paris Olympics
Mondo Duplantis recently posed as the viral Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec to celebrate his world record in the men's pole vault at the Paris Olympics 2024. The Sweedish international shattered his previous record set earlier this year.
Duplantis dominated the event with a whopping height of 6.25m to defeat his American and Greek counterparts Sam Kendricks and Emmanouil Karalis. While Kendricks listed 5.95m, Karalis posted 5.90m.
After clearing the historic 6.25m clearance, Duplantis uniquely celebrated the milestone. As soon as he landed on the mat, the Swedish-American pole vaulter came down to the ground, standing straight with his right arm up resembling the pistol shooting position. He put his left hand on the hip similar to Dikec's shooting posture.

Dikec gained widespread popularity on the internet after grabbing a silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event alongside Sevval Ilayda Tarhan, all while lacking professional shooting gear. He was seen shooting with one hand in his pocket, and no-gear appearance.
The 51-year-old ditched the high-tech and specialized gear, including visors, ear protection, cap, and glasses. Dikec's casual look was a talk on social media.
Duplantis' celebration did not go unnoticed by the "coolest pistol shooter," as Yusuf Dikec reacted to his feat.
"Congratulations Duplantis," he wrote.
"Trying to do something kind of silly and cocky" - Mondo Duplantis on his celebration after breaking the world record
As Mondo Duplantis' celebration went viral, he opened up about what led to the action.
In the post-match conference, Duplantis revealed that the Australian pole vaulter Kurtis Marschall dared him to pose similar to Yusuf Dikec. Further, Duplantis said he agreed to Marschall's challenge as he thought it was funny and wanted to have a "cocky" celebration.
"It just it kind of just happened I guess Kurtis Marschall, the Australian jumper, he yeah I mean I for lack of a better word I guess he kind of dared me to do it." Duplantis said (5:57).
"I thought it was a funny meme yeah he seems like an OG," he added. So I just kind of did it. I just thought it was kind of more like a funny thing. I really wasn't thinking that much about it. I was just kind of in the moment just trying to do something kind of silly and cocky."
With his victory, Mondo Duplantis surpassed his previous record of 6.24m, which he posted at the Xiamen Diamond League, earlier this year.
