WATCH: Noah Lyles' girlfriend Junelle Bromfield takes a playful jibe at the athlete and his obsession with the Paris Olympic medals

Noah Lyles and his Jamaican girlfriend Junelle Bromfield are in the news for various reasons. A recent social media of both of them has gone viral, where the Jamaican sprinter Bromfield is wondering what Lyles is really upto.

In the video that was initially uploaded on Lyles' TikTok account, and subsequently his Instagram account as well, Junelle Bromfield is seen to have mentioned,

"I feel like you're just here for the zipline. All you do all day is go on the zipline."

The camera then turns to a clueless Noah Lyles who is doing his daily chores, while gazing at his two Olympic medals from Paris Olympics. Lyles had won the gold medal in men's 100m for USA at the Paris Olympics 2024, and a bronze medal in the men's 200m, despite being afflicted with COVID 19.

On the other hand, Junelle Bromfield participated for Jamaica in women's 400m, as well as women's 4x400m relay event at the Paris Olympics. Unlike Tokyo Olympics, where she won a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay event, she was forced to return empty handed.

Junelle Bromfield was eliminated in the semifinals of women's 400m, and in the relay event, despite making it to the finals, the Jamaicans were unable to finish the race. Junelle Bromfield helped the Jamaican team qualify for the finals of the mixed 4x400m relay. However, they ultimately ended up finishing fifth overall.

Despite being from rival countries, Junelle Bromfield and Noah Lyles have never hesitated in expressing their mutual admiration for each other. The Jamaican sprinter had recently thanked Noah Lyles for supporting her when she was subject to immense criticism from the Jamaicans. But why was Bromfield subject to criticism?

Lyles had once mentioned how the Jamaican sprinter used to share with information about some of the fastest Jamaican sprinters, including those who would be in direct competition with Lyles. Due to this, Junelle Bromfield was subject to massive criticism by a section of Jamaicans, who thought she was doing disservice to his country.

In a long but poignant post on Instagram posted recently, Noah Lyles came to her defence, as he wrote:

"She has been through so much in her life that I could never imagine fighting through. Beyond that she is a survivor, 2x Olympian, Olympic medalists, multi World Championship medalist, and has been representing Jamaica on the world stage since she was 8 years old. But the most impressive thing I've seen recently is how she's dealt with the pure disrespect and hatred she's received from her country."

Bromfield responded by mentioning in the comments section,

"Thank you baby for always supporting [me], long before we were even dating. I remember [in] 2019 you had just become the World Champion and my brother passed away. Around that time, in the midst of celebrating one of your biggest achievements, you tried so hard to make me feel better, to help me see the positive in life, and how God will always pull me out of a dark situation."

Besides their Olympic appearances, both Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield have featured in several tournaments so far in 2024. Lyles has won four individual outdoor events, including the London Diamond League and the USATF New York City Grand Prix.

Junelle Bromfield won just one race in 2024, which was the 400m event at the Pure Athletes Elite Invitational.
