Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles paid a classy tribute to Rebeca Andrade, as the Brazilian was about to enter the podium after clinching gold in the floor exercise event. It was the 25-year-old's only individual gold at the Paris Olympics.
Andrade produced a fine routine in the floor exercise final, that fetched her a score of 14.166. She edged out Simone Biles, who secured 14.133, having received a penalty of 0.6. Jordan Chiles finished in third spot with 13.766.
During the medal ceremony, Biles and Chiles were already on the podium and the moment Andrade's name was announced, the two Americans bowed to her as she was stepping up.
Rebeca Andrade's floor exercise triumph is Brazil's second gold medal so far in the Paris Olympics. The South American nation has also won four silvers and five bronzes, thus taking their medal count in the French capital to 11.

Simone Biles and Rebeca Andrade both had memorable outings at the Paris Olympics as the women's artistic gymnastics events came to an end.
The American won the team event with her compatriots while Andrade's Brazilian side clinched bronze. Biles and Andrade were both on all the all-around podium, with the former winning gold while the latter won silver, a result that was repeated in the vault event.
Neither of the two were on the podium for uneven bars or balance beam, with the Brazilian narrowly missing out on a medal in the latter event, where she finished fourth. The floor exercise event marked the fourth medals for both Biles and Andrade in Paris.
The American now boasts of an additionally-impressive Olympic career, with her medal tally reaching 11, seven of which are golds. Rebeca Andrade has six medals to her name, two of them being golds. As for Jordan Chiles, the floor exercise bronze is her very first individual medal at the Olympics. This adds up to her team gold earlier in Paris and the team silver she won in Tokyo 2020.
