WATCH: Stephen Nedoroscik 'defies gravity' in viral challenge with fellow gymnasts at US National Team Camp
Stephen Nedoroscik aced the viral ‘Defying Gravity Challenge’ during the 2024 US Men’s National Developmental camp. The two-time Olympic medalist attended the camp alongside Paris Olympics teammates Brody Malone, Asher Hong, and Paul Juda.
The trio were the star performers for Team USA at the quadrennial event, leading them to a first Olympic medal since the 2008 Beijing Olympics. They recently attended the US Gymnastics Senior National Developmental Camp, the last of the 2024 season.
During a fun exercise at the training camp, Nedoroscik recently aced the viral 'Defying Gravity Challenge,' albeit with his national and Penn State teammates Josh Karnes and Patrick Hoopes.
The 2021 World Champion was held upside down by the duo, who also applied a horizontal force to a little below his knees. The horizontal force balanced out the gravitational force as Nedoroscik hung in the air with his teammates' support.
“Defying gravity with the gents”, he captioned the video.
Nedoroscik won two bronze medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. While he performed just one routine during the team finals, it was the last and crucial one for the USA men’s gymnastics team to end their medal drought.
Nedoroscik was also the only American male gymnast to win an individual medal at the event, securing a bronze in the Pommel Horse finals with a score of 15.300.
Stephen Nedoroscik reveals whether he plans to compete at the 2028 LA Olympics
Stephen Nedoroscik narrowly missed the Tokyo Olympics team a month after winning his maiden national title in 2021. He redeemed himself three years later with a place in the Paris Olympics team as an event specialist and after winning two medals in the French capital, the 26-year-old plans to extend his gymnastics career at least until the 2028 LA Olympics.
“I've always had the plan, even before the Olympic Games, to continue. I love the sport, and I always say I'm going to do it until my body can't do it and it still can. So, I'm going for at least another four years," Stephen Nedoroscik said during an appearance on the Today show.
Nedoroscik will now try to qualify for the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, scheduled to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, in October 2025. The 26-year-old has won only one medal at the World Championships so far and will look to add to his tally at the event.
