WATCH: Stephen Nedoroscik's full performance leaves Team USA ecstatic as they clinch first medal in men's gymnastics since 2008
Stephen Nedoroscik stunned on the pommel horse routine as the last participant in the last event of the men's gymnastics team finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. His only event of the night made him wait for 2.5 hours but played the most integral role in bringing the team bronze to the US for the first time since the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Stephen Nedoroscik amassed a world title and two NCAA National Champion titles in the pommel horse, his forte event. In 2024, he kicked off the season with a stunning pommel horse routine at the Baku World Cup, which made him a co-owner of the gold alongside Lee Chih-kai.
His following pommel horse performance at the Xfinity US Championships catapulted him to the pole position. At the 2024 US Olympic Trials, Stephen Nedoroscik repeated the feat and made his debut in the Olympic team.
Following the second finish behind Rhys McClenaghan in the Olympic qualification round, the bespectacled Nedoroscik hit the pommel horse routine in the last of six rotations and the last in the line-up in the Paris Olympics gymnastics Team finals.
Stephen Nedoroscik, who was spotted dozing during his wait, took a deep breath before mounting the pommel horse. After mounting, Nedoroscik intricately performed his best event combining circles, flairs, and leg swings until he made a near-flawless landing. (via NBC Olympics live broadcast)
As he walked out of the mat, his coaches and team jumped in ecstasy and lifted Nedoroscik on their shoulders to celebrate his effort of breaking the Olympic podium drought. He received heartfelt hugs from his teammates, who couldn't stop gushing with pride over his performance.
His routine earned the most coveted Olympic bronze for the US men's gymnastics team for the first time since the 2008 Olympic Games.
Stephen Nedoroscik - "It was just the greatest moment of my life"
Since high school, Stephen Nedoroscik has competed in the pommel horse, but could not make the 2020 Tokyo Olympic team. Fast forward to now, after his performance, he couldn't contain his excitement, saying:

Although he was scheduled for the last, he took it positively and aimed to make a difference.
"I thought about it before, about how I get to be the last person that goes in the Olympics. I put that in my head as a positive. Like, I can be the exclamation point," he said. (via USA Today)
After the event, he was happy to be the gymnast who proved himself 'consistent' despite the difficulties of fitting in a five-guy gymnastics team as a pommel horse specialist.
