Bryce Hoppel is an American track and field athlete who competes in the Men's 800m events. He recently qualified for the 800m event finals at the Paris Olympics 2024 after finishing second during the semis of the event on Friday (August 9).
Running in the third semifinal of the event, Hoppel clocked a run time of 1:43.41 to finish just behind the 2023 World Championships silver medalist, Emmanuel Wanyonyi. This performance secured him a berth for his maiden Olympics final scheduled on Saturday (August 10).

Bryce Hoppel: Family
Hoppel was born in the city of Midland, Texas on September 5, 1997. His family includes his parents, Rita Hoppel and Monty Hoppel, and two elder siblings, Kelsey Hoppel and Megan Hoppel. His father, Monty Hoppel is the manager for the Minor League Basketball team, Midland Rockhounds.

Hoppel completed his schooling at Midland High School, following which he pursued a degree in Business Finance at the University of Kansas. During his time with the University of Kansas, Hoppel also competed for the collegiate track and field team, the Kansas Jayhawks.

Competing for the Kansas Jayhawks, Bryce Hoppel clinched a gold medal in the Men's 800m at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships. In the same year, he also won the NCAA Outdoor title in the same distance event.
The Midland native enjoyed considerable success while competing at the national championships. He clinched two gold medals and a bronze medal at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships, as well as four top-podium finishes and a third-place finish at the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships.
Hoppel won 800m gold at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow with a run time of 1:44.92. He also has a bronze medal in the event which he won at the 2022 edition of the World Indoor Championships.
At the US Olympic Track and Field Trials, Hoppel clinched the top-podium finish in the Men's 800m event finals to qualify for the second Olympics of his career.
