Kishane Thompson recently hogged the spotlight after his victorious finish in the 100m heats on Day 1 of the Jamaican Trials. He clocked the second-fastest time in the world and defeated World Championship medalist Ackeem Blake by a notable margin to advance to the 100m semi-finals and close in on Olympic qualification.

He did not just beat Blake but also trounced Oblique Seville, who recently defeated the American sprinting sensation Noah Lyles in the 100m at the Racers Grand Prix. Thompson recorded a time of 9.82s at the trials, pushing Seville to the third position.

The 22-year-old Jamaican is now the sixth-fastest man in Jamaican history. His previous personal best was 9.85s, which was set at the Xiamen Diamond League on September 2, 2023.
