Leonardo Fabbri is an Italian shot putter who recently defeated the reigning Olympic champion, Ryan Crouser. The incident took place on Saturday, July 20, during the London Diamond League meet.
Crouser was one of the favorites to win the shot put event in London considering his performances throughout the season till now. However, Fabbri had some other ideas, as he managed a mark of 22.52m on his fifth attempt to clinch the top position at the London Stadium.
Even though it was 0.43m short of his best performance this season at Savona, it was enough for Fabbri to get his first Diamond League meet victory in the 2024 season.
Crouser's best attempt to glory in London also came during his fifth attempt when he managed a mark of 22.37m. However, it was not enough for the two-time Olympic medalist who had to settle for the second position while his countryman, Otterdahl Payton secured the third position with a mark of 22.13 during his third attempt.
