"Witnessing history"-Christian Coleman reacts to Sha'Carri Richardson's silver medal victory at Paris Olympics 2024

Three-time World Championships gold medalist Christian Coleman recently reacted to Sha'Carri Richardson's solid perfromance in the Women's 100m event at Paris Olympics 2024. This comes just a day after the 100m finals were concluded at the Stada de Paris.

Richardson, running in the seventh lane of the track, executed her run superbly to clinch the silver medal with a run time of 10.87 seconds. She finished 0.15 seconds behind the Saint Lucian sprinter, Julian Alfred who took home the gold medal after clocking 10.72 seconds. Richardson's countrymate Melissa Jefferson took the bronze medal after she clocked a run time of 10.92 seconds.

In awe of Richardson's performance in the finals, Coleman shared some admirable words for the 24-year-old sprinter who was competing in the first Olympic of her career. He took to his Instagram handle to share a picture of Richardson in his story with the caption:

"We are witnessing history, The greatest.. just keep watching"

Coleman has always been a huge admirer of the Texas native and this is not the first time that the 28-year-old has showered such kind words for Richardson. At the Xiamen of the Diamond League meet concluded earlier this year, Coleman also opened up about his respect for Richardson due to the latter's contribution to revolutionizing the women's track and field.

Even though Sha'Carri Richardson failed to get her hands on the Olympic gold medal in the Women's 100m event, it was a very inspirational run for the 24-year-old after the incidents that she went through during the Olympics in Tokyo three years ago when she was suspended for a month and had to miss the quadrennial event.

However, Richardson's run in this 2024 Olympics at the French capital is still not done yet with the 4x100m team relays still to go. The Texas sprinter acquired a seat in the US 4x100m relay team after her performances in the Women's 100m finals during the US Olympic Track and Field Trials.

Sha'Carri Richardson clinched the first position in the event with a run time of 10.71 seconds and earned an automatic qualification in the 4x100m US relay team for the Paris Olympics. Other athletes who can join Richardson on the relay team include Melissa Jefferson, Twenisha Terry, and Tamari Davis.

The heats for the relay event will take place on August 8 (Thursday) and the finals of the event are scheduled on August 9 (Friday).
