"You focus on the Olympics first keep the others aside"- Fans react as Quincy Hall reacts to Noah Lyles' comments on inclusion in 4x400m relay tea
Quincy Hall is currently the World No. 1 in the 400m, and anyone would want him in the 4x400m relay team. However, Noah Lyles thinks otherwise. In an interview with the Track World News podcast, the triple-world champion explained why Hall would not be a suitable athlete for the men’s relay team at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Lyles opted to have Chris Bailey to start as he boldly claimed that he is fit for the second place. The Olympic Games 200m bronze medallist picked Michael Norman for the third leg as he noted that Rai Benjamin would be a perfect fit for the anchor leg.
The news did not sit right with Quincy Hall, who came out defensive, explaining that the only way they could know the perfect fit for the relay team was through competing against each other.
Quincy Hall shared a lengthy video on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, explaining that he ran the first leg at last year’s World Championships in the Hungarian capital where Team USA claimed a gold medal. He added that Lyles only said that since he wants a spot in the 4x400m relay team at the Olympic Games.
"For the folk who mad saying he didn’t diss me or I’m overthinking y’all can miss me with all that I’m rapped out about the situation my blocks still ready but if we ain’t doing it that’s cool to but let me get ready for the Olympics 😂💯🐶," Hall captioned the video.
Following his remarks, fans have posed different reactions to the video Quincy Hall shared on his X. Some supported him, noting that Lyles and Hall should compete against each other to determine who rightfully deserves the spot.
Other fans pleaded with him to focus on the Olympic Games first, with one explaining that they could renew their rivalry at Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam Track league.
One fan wrote:

"He actually gave you one hell of a compliment! You all in your feelings for no reason!!!" another added.
"Make it a 300m race…" another fan said.
"To say this then apologize is so on brand for track athletes. Talk your shit and stand on it. Noah be having all you men scared and can’t do anything about it," another fan said.
Quincy Hall claps back at Noah Lyles’ men’s 4x400m relay snub to Paris Olympic Games
Noah Lyles boldly claimed that he would not include Quincy Hall in his men’s 4x400m relay team to the Paris Olympic Games.
He added that placing the U.S. 400m champion in the first leg would be a waste of talent, hence the hesitation to place him in the team. Lyles has been vocal about wanting to be included in the 4x400m relay team and he explained why he would be a perfect fit and not Hall, the world leader.
"The only reason I wouldn’t use the current US champion is because I don’t think he would be a starter. I feel like using him on the first leg would just be almost like a waste to his talent. I just don’t see him getting his full capability out of the first leg," Lyles said in an interview with Track World News podcast.
Quincy Hall did not take the sentiments lightly and he fired back at the triple world champion, explaining that the only way to end the debate is when the duo races against each other.
"@LylesNoah I don’t bother nobody but my blocks ready anytime you feel like you can beat me in the 400 you was talking to much on my name on yo little podcast @TrackWorldNews1 I don’t do the little slick comments and remarks I line up 💯🐶," Hall shared on X.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Lyles will represent Team USA in 100, 200m and the men’s 4x100m relay, and his quadruple dream is hanging in the balance.
Quincy Hall won the 400m at the U.S. Olympic trials; hence, his spot in the 4x400m relay team is guaranteed. Michael Norman and Chris Bailey finished second and third at the trials, respectively, and are also part of the relay pool.
