Top 10 American swimmers who earned the most prize money at Paris Olympics ft. Torri Huske and Katie Ledecky
Team USA didn't have their best outing in swimming at the Paris Olympics, but a number of swimmers from the team still walked away with plenty of monetary gains. While the IOC doesn't award participants any cash rewards for their performances, the athletes are compensated by USOPC and USA Swimming.
Overall, American swimmers won 28 medals at the Paris Olympics, eight of which were gold. This means that they won ten more medals than Australia, who finished second on the swimming medal tally. With that, here's a look at which members of the USA swim team won the most prize money while in Paris.
#10. Jack Alexy - $73,630.95
Jack Alexy had a stellar run at his debut Olympic Games. Competing in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay and the men's 4x100m medley relay, he won a gold and a silver medal. His prize money totaled $73,630, of which nearly $46,500 were for his top of the podium finish in the freestyle relay, alongside teammates Chris Guiliano, Hunter Armstrong, Caeleb Dressel, Ryan Held, and Matthew King.

Ryan Murphy made his third appearance at the Olympic Games. But the 29-year-old was unable to live up to his previous standards. However, he was still able to walk out of the Summer Games $118,943 richer thanks to his performances in the relay events. Alongside his teammates, Dressel claimed gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay, 4x100m mixed medley relay, as well as a silver in the 4x100m medley relay.
