Top 5 American athletes who won most medals at the Paris Olympics 2024 ft. Torri Huske, Simone Biles
The United States finished the Paris Olympics 2024 on a high as the only contingent to breach the 100-medal mark. Amassing a mammoth 126 medals, 35 medals ahead of next-best China, the American athletes were a cut apart from the rest.
Tied on 40 gold medals with their Asian rivals, the Americans triumphed with significantly more silver and bronze medals, 44 and 42 respectively.
With the country's three most popular sports - Athletics, Swimming, and Artistic Gymnastics - contributing more than half of its total, several athletes finished on the podium more than once to bring fame and glory to the USA.

#4. Gretchen Walsh
Tied in fourth place, Gretchen Walsh swam her way to two gold medals and two silvers at the Paris Olympics.
Team events seemed to be the swimmer's speciality as she was a part victorious teams that won the Women's 4x100m Medley Relay and the Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay. She was also a part of the American contingent that clinched silver in the Women's 4x100m Freestyle Relay. Walsh's only individual silver came in the 100m butterfly event.
A University of Virginia alumna, the American played a part in breaking two world records in the French capital as Team USA set new bests at the Paris Olympics in the women's 4x100m Medley Relay with a timing of 3:49.63 minutes as Walsh completed her butterfly split in 55.03 seconds.
The mixed 4x100m Medley Relay team also set a world record, clocking 3:37.43 minutes, with Walsh completing her butterfly split in 52.98 seconds. She also narrowly missed out on a fifth podium, finishing fourth in the 50m Freestyle.
#4 Kate Douglass
Also in fourth with teammate and fellow University of Virginia alumna, Gretchen Walsh, Kate Douglass finished the Paris Olympics with an identical medal cabinet as her compatriot.
A part of the gold-medal winning Women's 4x100m Medley Relay and the second-place Women's 4x100m Freestyle Relay, Douglass was an integral part of the swimming contingent.
On the individual front, the American was successful in the Women's 200m Breastroke and finished the runner-up in the Women's 200m Individual Medley.
Douglass and Walsh were both part of the team that set the world record in the 4x100m Medley at the Paris Olympics.
#3. Simone Biles
The only athlete on this list who isn't a swimmer, and the greatest gymnast to ever represent the USA on the big stage, Simone Biles finished the Paris Olympics with four medals, three gold and one silver, taking her overall tally to nine.
Having withdrawn from all individual events but the balance beam at the Tokyo Olympics due to her mental health, the American considered quitting gymnastics afterwards.
Biles won her second all-around, vault and team golds at the Paris Olympics, while narrowly losing out to career-long competitor, Brazilian Rebeca Andrade in the floor exercise.
In claiming her second all-around crown, Biles became the first woman since Vera Caslavska to win two Olympic individual all-around gold medals. She did well to recover from a costly error as she almost fell off while flipping from the low to high on the uneven bars.
#2. Regan Smith
One of only two American athletes to step on the hallowed podium five times at the Paris Olympics, Regan Smith had an outing to remember.
With first-place finishes in the Women's 4x100m Medley Relay and the Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay, and silver medals in the Women's 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke and 200m Butterfly, Regan Smith finished fifth in the individual medal tally at Paris and is also tied for the second-most medals by an individual.
The American now has a total of eight Olympic medals, having won three in Tokyo 2020.

The United States' most successful athlete at the Paris Olympics and the third-most decorated overall at the 2024 Games, Torri Huske finished her second edition of the Olympics with a stellar showing of five podium finishes.
The American won her first individual gold in the 100m Butterfly after clocking 55.59 seconds. She was also part of the world-record setting teams in the women's 4x100m Medley relay and the mixed 4x100m <edley relay..
Huske won two silvers, the first of which came in the women's 100m freestyle event. Her second silver came as part of the women's 4x100m Freestyle relay team.
