USA women's gymnastics team at Paris Olympics 2024: Know the five-member team, traveling and non-traveling replacements for the quadrennial games

The five-member USA women's gymnastics team will be representing at the Paris Olympics from 28 July. Beginning with the women's team all-around and the individual all-around final, the USA women's gymnastics team will be in action from 28 July to 5 August, when the finals of women's balance beam [individual] and the women's floor exercise [individual] shall be completed.

The USA women's gymnastics team comprises the following:

  1. Simone Biles
  2. Sunisa Lee
  3. Jade Carey
  4. Jordan Chiles
  5. Hezly Rivera

Following are the traveling replacements for the USA women's gymnastics team:

  1. Joscelyn Roberson
  2. Leanne Wong

The non-traveling replacements for the USA women's gymnastics team are listed below:

  1. Kaliya Lincoln
  2. Tiana Sumanasekara

The USA women's gymnastics team will be looking forward to repeating the heroics of the Rio Olympics at this quadrennial edition, where the U.S. Olympic team topped the medal table, with the USA women's gymnastics team alone winning nine out of the 12 medals won by USA overall in artistic gymnastics.

While the 20-year-old gymnast will be traveling primarily as a replacement, Leanne Ashley Wong is a worthy team player.

She has won two team all-around gold medals for USA at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships respectively. Leanne Wong also won a silver medal in the individual all-around event and a bronze medal in the floor exercise event at the 2021 World Championships.

#6) Joscelyn Roberson

The 18-year-old gymnast from Texarkana, Texas, had won a gold medal in the team all-around event at the 2023 World Championships. Apart from that, Joscelyn Roberson also won two gold medals in the team all-around event and the floor exercise at the 2023 Pan American Championships, as well as two silver medals in the vault and balance beam events.

The 16-year-old gymnast from Hackensack, New Jersey, is the youngest member of the USA women's gymnastics team which will represent the nation at the Paris Olympics.

At the Olympic Trials, Hezly Rivera placed fifth in the all-around event, tied first for balance beam, fourth on uneven bars, and eighth on floor exercise. The performance enabled her to secure the ticket for the USA women's gymnastics team bound for Paris Olympics. Apart from that, Hezly Rivera also has 2 silver medals from the Junior World Championships to her credit.

#4) Jordan Chiles

Paris 2024 would be the second Olympic Games for Jordan Chiles as a member of the USA women's gymnastics team. She was a silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics as a part of the team all-around event.

Apart from the above, Jordan Chiles has three World Championships medals and three Pan American Games' medals to her credit. While Jordan Chiles won one gold and two silver at the 2022 World Championships, she won a team all-around gold medal, a silver in the vault event, and a bronze medal in the individual all-around event at the 2023 Pan American Games.

Jordan Chiles was tremendously consistent at the Olympic trials, finishing second in vault, and third overall in the all-around event, uneven bars, and the floor exercise event.

The 24-year-old gymnast from Phoenix, Arizona, specializes in the vault, as well as the floor exercise events. Jade Carey is also the defending Olympic champion in the floor exercise event, having won a gold medal for the same at the Tokyo Olympics.

Jade Carey qualified for the USA women's gymnastics team for the Paris Olympics after finishing fourth in the all-around, first in vault, eighth on uneven bars, sixth on balance beam, and second on floor exercise. Apart from the above, Carey has seven World Championships medals and three gold medals from the 2018 Pan American Championships to her credit.

#2) Sunisa Lee

The 21-year-old gymnast from Saint Paul, Minnesota is one of the brightest prospects for an Olympic gold from the USA women's gymnastics team. Sunisa Lee is the defending Olympic champion in the individual all-around event. Apart from that, she also won a silver medal and a bronze medal in the team all-around event and the uneven bars in Tokyo Olympics.

At the Olympic Trials, Sunisa Lee aka Suni Lee secured her ticket to Paris after finishing second in all-around, first on uneven bars, fifth on balance beam, and seventh in the floor exercise events.

Simone Biles is not only the most experienced but also one of the oldest American gymnasts to take part in the USA women's gymnastics team at the Paris Olympics since the Helsinki Olympics in 1952.

Simone Biles won five medals at the 2023 World Championships, including four gold medals in team all-around, individual all-around, balance beam, and floor exercise. At the Olympic Trials, Simone Biles won the all-around event and floor exercise, finished second on uneven bars, and came fourth on the balance beam.
