A'ja Wilson drops 2-word reaction to Men's Olympics Basketball MVP LeBron James' sneaker display
Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson had a two-word reaction to LeBron James' sneaker display during Team USA's gold medal matchup of the men's basketball event at the 2024 Paris Olympics against France on Saturday. Wilson shared an Instagram story featuring a close-up of the new PEs of the "LeBron 22" that James debuted during the game and expressed her appreciation for it.
"STOP ITTTT," Wilson wrote in her story.
LeBron James sported a metallic blue/chrome version of his latest signature kicks during the shootaround and switched to a metallic gold version for the championship game. Both kicks featured the signature "Safari" pattern on the bottom soles along with the Nike swoosh on the lateral sides and the arch of the foot.
Sporting his PE kicks, James recorded a double-double in the game with 14 points, 10 assists, six rebounds, two steals and one block as Team USA won 98-87 against France. The LA Lakers star was named the MVP of the tournament for his dominant performance throughout the event and clinched his third Olympic gold medal with the win.
Meanwhile, A'ja Wilson has also been wearing the LeBron 22 for the Paris Olympics in her own player-exclusive colorways. The reigning WNBA champion has leaned towards the sturdy and supportive LeBron kicks as her choice of sneakers. The sneakers are designed for bigger players, and standing at 6-foot-7, Wilson seemingly likes the robust build of the LeBrons for her play.
A'ja Wilson drops major hints about her first-ever Nike signature shoe
A'ja Wilson has reportedly dropped hints of her highly anticipated first signature shoe with Nike, the "Nike A'One." Footwear news journalist Peter Verry was featured in a recent episode of the "Locked On" podcast and shared some details from his conversation with Wilson about her upcoming signature kicks.
"She said it's a low top, which she typically doesn't wear on the court. It's very versatile, and the key thing for her, besides the fact that she wants people to wear it off the court, is that she needed about 40 minutes of comfort built into that shoe," Verry said.
Given the description, Verry speculated that Wilson's signature sneakers may be inspired by both LeBrons and Kobes. With the reigning WNBA Finals MVP involved in the design process for more than a year, the final product is expected to reflect her unique style.
Meanwhile, A'ja Wilson is currently leading Team USA's effort at the women's basketball event of the 2024 Paris Olympics. They will face France for the gold medal match of the event on Sunday and will look to clinch USA women's eighth consecutive gold medal in the Olympics.
