Angel Reese gives one-word reaction after making SI's Power List issue cover

WNBA rookie Angel Reese was announced as the Sports Illustrated cover star for October. In addition, Reese was also named to the Sports Illustrated Power List, which includes the 50 most influential figures in all of sports. From athletes such as NBA star LeBron James to Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, the list extended beyond just athletes.

On Wednesday, Sports Illustrated took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the 50 most influential figures in sports. Along with the post, the outlet included a photo of Reese, mere hours after announcing her as the cover athlete for October. In response, Reese shared a one-word reaction to the list, writing:

"FACECARD."

In addition to Angel Reese, several individuals from the WNBA also made the list. Most notably, in addition to Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark also appeared on the list, with Sports Illustrated singing the generational talent's praises for her influence both on and off the court.

The list also included A'ja Wilson, the reigning WNBA Finals MVP who is looking for her third straight WNBA title alongside the Las Vegas Aces this season, which would make them just the second team in WNBA history to three-peat.

In addition to the aforementioned WNBA players, WNBA legend Candace Parker also joined Angel Reese on the list of the 50 most influential figures in sports. While Parker is now retired from playing pro basketball, her career achievements over 16 seasons in the league can't be denied.

James was the first individual mentioned on Sports Illustrated's list, with the outlet pointing out that he has more influence than any other American athlete. From the respect and attention he commands on the court, to his wildly successful business ventures off the court.

The list also includes Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, who will be featured in the Netflix "Starting 5" docuseries set to release before the 2024-25 NBA season tips off next month.

In addition, budding young star and recent Olympic silver medalist Victor Wembanyama also appeared on the list alongside Angel Reese as he prepares to make waves in his second year in the league.

Off the court, LA Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert were both included, with Engelbert leading the WNBA as the league gains more attention than ever before.
