Angel Reese's teammate Chennedy Carter quips about her relationship status with 4-word IG post
Angel Reese's Chicago Sky teammate Chennedy Carter recently made light of her relationship status on Instagram. Carter is playing overseas in China with the Wuhan Shengfan in the WCBA.
In a post on her Instagram stories, Carter shared a meme about a phone call from a "healthy long lasting relationship," humorously suggesting that she has never received a call like that, seemignly referencing her dating history.
"Never got that call," Carter wrote.
Carter's dating life remains private, though she recently posted images of her alleged girlfriend on Instagram. The identity of the woman in her stories is not publicly known, and Carter has not disclosed her name.
Chennedy Carter currently playing in China
Like many other WNBA players over the years, Chennedy Carter went abroad to continue playing basketball during the offseason. Carter signed a contract with the Wuhan Shengfan in the WCBA in China. Their season began on Oct. 17 and will end on April 21, which is the final day of the finals series.
It's not Carter's first time playing overseas. She has suited up for teams such as Elazığ İl Özel İdarespor and Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyespor in Turkey, as well as AZS Poznań in Poland. She also played for the Heilongjiang Dragons in the WCBA during the 2023 season.
Carter took a break from the WNBA during that year after a challenging time with the LA Sparks. She had a promising first two seasons with the Atlanta Dream before on-court issues forced her to get traded. The same thing happened with the Sparks, prompting her to take time away from the league.
The Texas A&M product returned to the WNBA last season, signing a one-year deal with the Chicago Sky. She had a productive campaign and even finished fourth in the Most Improved Player of the Year award voting.
Chennedy Carter will enter restricted free agency
The 2025 WNBA free agency is set to begin on Jan. 21 and Chennedy Carter will be one of the most coveted players in the market. Carter is coming off the best season of her career, averaging 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
Carter shot 48.7% from the field, which is impressive for a guard in the league. While her 3-point shooting needs improvement at 29.0%, she has already demonstrated her ability to score efficiently.
The Chicago Sky have the advantage over other teams as they can match any offer made to Carter since she is a restricted free agent.
