Caitlin Clark once got named to first-team All-State in soccer as only freshman after averaging 4.3 goals per game
Caitlin Clark has widely made a name for herself as the rookie star of the Indiana Fever who led the franchise to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. However, very few people know that the Fever star has also tried her hand at other sports. A Caitlin Clark fan page on X, formerly Twitter, posted on Thursday about how she once played soccer and was phenomenal at it.
According to the post, Clark was named to the All-State first-team and was the only freshman to do it, as she scored 26 goals in just six games. Franki Hrelja, a sports reporter on Instagram, also made a video on the same topic, uncovering more details about Clark's high school soccer career.
As per Hrelja, Caitlin Clark averaged more than four goals per game. The Fever rookie played only six games at the varsity level because she was also focusing on basketball at the time and was representing Team USA in the U-16 FIBA Americas Championship.
Hrelja said that earlier in her career, Clark had better soccer stats compared to her hooping career. However, when she entered her sophomore year, she improved drastically and became the number-one player in the country. That was when she pursued basketball as a career.
Few would deny that Clark made the wrong decision. Ever since making it to the WNBA, she has become a phenom, breaking several records and establishing herself as the next big superstar of women's basketball.
Caitlin Clark scores impressive goal for Dowling
The same Caitlin Clark fan page on X posted a video of her playing soccer for Dowling Catholic High School. In the video, the goalkeeper started a play by making a pass to Clark's midfield teammate.
The midfielder dribbled with the ball momentarily and noticed the run from Clark up the middle and fed her a great lob pass. Clark received the ball, beat her defender, and placed it at the back of the net with a clinical finish to give her team the opening goal.
