Caitlin Clark receives major praise from Rebecca Lobo after stellar rookie WNBA season: "Should be a first team All-WNBA"

Rebecca Lobo had only good things to say about Caitlin Clark after her record-breaking rookie season. The Indiana Fever booked their place in the WNBA playoffs for the first time since 2016, with Clark capturing everyone's attention with her scintillating performances.

Assessing Clark’s rookie season, the veteran analyst didn’t hold back on her praise for the Fever guard.

“Caitlin Clark had a remarkable season, she should be a first team All-WNBA performer," Lobo said. “I have her fourth on my MVP ballot, which is incredible considering how the season started for Indiana.”
“A 1-8 start. Her first game against the Connecticut Sun, she had 10 turnovers and now she ends up leading the league in assists,” she added. “It kind of comes full circle, as her first game of her career was against the Connecticut and now her first playoff game of her career is going to be the same. It’ll be interesting to see how much better she’s in this playoff game than she was in that first game of her pro career."

Starting in all 40 games of the regular season, Clark has been instrumental in the lineup, showing continued improvement since the Fever drafted her No. 1 overall.

Clark has been tipped by many to win the Rookie of the Year award. Clark has averaged an astounding 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists in the regular season.

Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever takes on Connecticut Sun in high-stake playoffs

On Sunday, the Connecticut Sun will welcome the Indiana Fever to Mohegan Sun Arena in the WNBA first-round playoff, with the eventual winner across the best-of-three series facing either the Minnesota Lynx or Phoenix Mercury in the semifinals.

The Fever and Sun faced each other four times during the regular season. Connecticut won the first three matchups, but the Fever clinched a victory in the final meeting, winning 84-80 on Aug. 28 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Clark's professional debut was a bit rough, as she went scoreless for nearly 15 minutes. Despite this, she finished with a team-high 20 points as the Fever fell 92-71 to the Sun. In the final game, however, Clark scored 19 points, which Indiana won 84-80 to snap an 11-game losing streak.

Clark will hope she can have a similar performance against the Sun during the playoffs. Her confidence after the Olympics break showed she is not affected by big occasions, which helps her make a huge impact on crucial games. Whatever happens, we will be in for an unforgettable playoff showdown.
