Caitlin Clark tells bf Connor McCaffery to 'shut up' after Pacers team assistant's playful jab

Caitlin Clark engaged in playful banter with her boyfriend Connor McCaffery on social media. The Indiana Fever rookie told her partner to "shut up" after being teased in one of the team’s Instagram videos.

In the reel, Clark lost a halfcourt shot contest to her teammate Kelsey Mitchell, prompting McCaffery to poke fun at her in the comments section.

“Yo have you ever won this @caitlinclark22,” said McCaffery.

About an hour later, the comment received a reply from Clark, telling him to keep silent.

The half-court contest was the final drill in the Fever’s practice session, helping boost the team’s morale and chemistry.

McCaffery is familiar with the practice drills, having played basketball at Iowa University. He is now working as an assistant for the Indiana Pacers.

Clark, who led the Iowa women's team to the national championship game earlier this year, is a long-range shooter, shooting 34.1% from the 3-point line on 8.7 attempts per game. She is the team’s focal point, as she averages 18.7 points per game, along with 5.6 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 1.4 steals.

Meanwhile, the winner of the halfcourt contest, Kelsey Mitchell has also been one of the brightest stars from the Fever, averaging a team-high 19.0 points per game. She came up huge in Indiana’s latest win versus the Dallas Wings, recording 36 points and six rebounds.

Clark and Mitchell have been the key cogs in the Fever’s four-game winning streak. The team has also won eight of its last 10 games to improve to 17-16 in the WNBA standings, good for sixth spot.

Caitlin Clark receives support from Lakers’ LeBron James

As Caitlin Clark and the Fever tear it up in the WNBA after its resumption after the Olympic break, the rookie received high praise from one of the biggest stars of the sport, LeBron James.

James, who led the Team USA to the gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics last month, kept it simple in his praise of Clark on X, formerly Twitter.

"CAITLIN CLARK!!!!! HI HATERS," LeBron wrote.

The post came after the Fever’s impressive 100-81 win over Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky, where Clark posted a career-high 31 points and 12 assists. James also reposted Clark’s stats following his initial praise.

Clark has been averaging 24.5 points per game since the WNBA season resumed from the Olympic break. In that span, the Fever have only lost once in seven games.

Following her impressive showcase against her rival Reese, Clark put up 28 points and 12 assists against the Wings in a second straight double-double performance.
