"Can I buy your worn sweaty socks?": Nika Muhl and Aaliyah Edwards react to fellow Huskies' latest workout snaps
Nika Muhl, Aaliyah Edwards and Ayanna Patterson are all part of the University of Connecticut's rich basketball tradition. The UConn women's team has been one of the most dominant programs in the nation over the last 25 years and the bond is strong between the players that competed together in Storrs.
On Sunday, UConn forward Ayanna Patterson shared a few photos on her Instagram account of her recent workout session. Nika Muhl and Aaliyah Edwards, who now play in the WNBA, took some time out of their busy schedules to respond to Patterson's post and provided some wholesome and positive vibes for their former teammate.
"Can I buy your worn sweaty socks?" Muhl wrote.
Aaliyah Edwards followed that up with a more succinct and direct message:
With the season just a few months away, Patterson was seen taking some shots in the gym while sporting some grey and navy blue UConn attire.
Patterson was a the no. 4 recruit in the 2022 high school class and was one of the most sought after prospects in the nation. The Indiana native opted to develop her game at the University of Connecticut under legendary coach Geno Auriemma.
Unfortunatelyfor Patterson, injuries have hampered her progress, with the talented forward missing the 2023-24 season due to a knee injury. Huskies fans will be delighted to see her healthy and back working out in the gym.
Nika Muhl was part of the UConn side that went all the way to the Final Four in 2024
It has been an eventful year for Nika Muhl. The Croatian was part of the UConn women's basketball team that finished with a 33-6 record and a perfect 18-0 record in the Big East conference. Muhl, a talented point guard, was instrumental in leading the Huskies all the way to the Final Four. UConn eventually fell to a Caitlin Clark-led Iowa side in the semifinals.
A strong four-year career with UConn meant there was plenty of interest from WNBA teams for Muhl. The 23-year-old was selected as the 14th overall pick by the Seattle Storm in April.
Muhl has appeared in 15 games for the Storm this season.
