"Can she shoot like that in NBA" - Donald Trump weighs in on claims of Caitlin Clark being underpaid in WNBA

Last season, Caitlin Clark delivered one of the most dominant rookie seasons the WNBA has seen in some time. As she enjoys some well-deserved downtime in the offseason, one presidential candidate weighed in on her financial status in the league.

One day before the 2024 US Presidential election, the "Let's Go" podcast released their interview with Donald Trump. Among the things to come up was the Indiana Fever star and how she's compensated compared to her male counterparts. The former president praised her game and is rooting for Clark to stay on this trajectory towards becoming a face of the WNBA.

"She is incredible by the way, I watch her. I watch her shot go in and I for a minute I thought Can she shoot like that in NBA. She is unbelievable," Trump said. "I hope she keeps it going and make a lot of money."

During her rookie season, Caitlin Clark made $76,535. Her salary will steadily increase over the life of her rookie deal, but she'll never make more than $100,000 in a single season. Luckily for Clark, she secured a massive $28 million endorsement deal with Nike leading up to her pro debut.

Caitlin Clark appears to be backing Kamala Harris over Donald Trump in 2024 election

Throughout the lead up to the 2024 election, numerous celebrities have endorsed Kamala Harris or Donald Trump. While Donald Trump had nice things to say about Caitlin Clark, it doesn't seem like the Fever star will be backing him.

It needs to be stated that Clark hasn't endorsed either candidate leading up to the election. However, her social media activity tells a different story.

Among those to publicly voice their thoughts on the 2024 election is pop icon Taylor Swift. She made an elongated post on Instagram in September about how she'll be voting for Vice President Harris. Swift's post got over 11 million likes, With Caitlin Clark being one of them.

When asked about why she liked the post, Clark stated that she wants to use her platform to try and encourage people to go out and vote.

“I have this amazing platform, so I think the biggest thing would be to just encourage people to register to vote,” Clark told reporters. “That’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform that I have and that’s the same thing Taylor (Swift) did."

Clark is one of numerous people within the NBA and WNBA to show support for Harris. Among the others to do so include LeBron James and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
