With the WNBA regular league coming to a close soon, coach Teresa Weatherspoon and the Chicago Sky are in desperate need of a win to silence critics and qualify for the playoffs. But they will face another tough test against the defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces, on Tuesday night.

Weatherspoon needs a victory quickly, as the Sky faithful are beginning to turn on her with each game exposing her weaknesses. They’re having a torrid time, losing each of their last six league games. Yet, somehow, they miraculously hang on by fingernails to the eighth and final playoff spot.

For Weatherspoon, though, the problem is finding the balance between attack and defense. With their field goal percentage at 43.0%, 3-point field goal percentage at 20.2% and free throw percentage at 78.3%, the Sky are the worst shooting team in the league.

On the other hand, it hasn't been a vintage 2022 for the Aces, but their saving grace has, of course, been MVP contender A'ja Wilson. Coach Becky Hammon’s team has found its groove after suffering four defeats last month and is now coming off back-to-back victories, including a dominant 97-79 win over the Phoenix Mercury, where Wilson scored 41 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.

With the Aces currently fourth in the table and only one game ahead of the fifth-place Seattle Storm, they will know that they cannot pass up the opportunity to let the Storm overtake.

Chicago Sky vs. Las Vegas Aces: What to expect

The Sky have been prone to make defensive mistakes at some point in the game, so utilizing these chances is significant for the hosts. The absence of Chennedy Carter has also been another notable weakness, which was demonstrated by the Indiana Fever and Minnesota Lynx last week.

Additionally, the Aces will have the home-court advantage and are carrying momentum off of their last victory, which should be enough to beat the Sky.
