"Deep hatred for Paige Bueckers is crazy": WNBA Twitter reacts to growing trend of Caitlin Clark fans backing JuJu Watkins and USC
Caitlin Clark's fans strongly responded to one question floating around social media regarding the Indiana Fever star, UConn's leader Paige Bueckers and USC's sophomore JuJu Watkins. Several Clark fans have rallied behind Watkins this season, picking her over Bueckers, who has never shown signs of beefing with Clark.
A couple of fans brought this to everybody's attention and questioned why CC fans supported Watkins instead of Bueckers.
"Why is every CC fan an usc stan all of the sudden," one fan asked.
"Their deep hatred for paige is crazy," another fan said.
What followed was a series of tweets blaming Geno Auriemma's comments against Caitlin Clark and UConn fans' threats and bad behavior as the reason why they have no love lost for Bueckers.
"When you ask this question and the answer is, “Geno’s trashed CC publicly every chance he got” but you don’t want to hear that, you turn off replies to a QUESTION you asked😂," one fan said.
"'All of a sudden' mind you PB fans, Geno, DT spent the whole Wnba season hating, and wishing for CC to fail. 🤣 have a little self awareness pls," another fan said.
"Geno spent all off season talking badly about caitlin now you want me to root for him?" another fan questioned.
The comments were flooded with these explanations, as Auriemma made some enemies within the Caitlin Clark fanbase.
Paige Bueckers has had a cordial relationship with Clark, praising the former Iowa Hawkeyes player's impact on women's sports.
What did Geno Auriemma say about Caitlin Clark?
Geno Auriemma rubbed a lot of people off when he joined The Dan Patrick Show and said that Caitlin Clark wouldn't survive the physicality of the WNBA.
"She's just not built for the physicality of the league and she's not quick enough to get away from the physicality," Auriemma said. "So, there's a lot of learning curve, like Diana [Taurasi] said. And when she gets it, she has elite skills that are gonna help her. But she needs to be on a better team and she needs to be more experienced."
These words raised plenty of eyebrows among Clark's fans.
