Following her sister's footsteps, Satou Sabally lights up 2024 Paris Olympics with sparkling grillz: "Want to be like Nyara so bad"

Satou Sabally and her sister Nyara Sabally are ready to make their mark at the 2024 Paris Olympics for Germany. On July 20, Nyara Sabally displayed her Olympic-themed 14k gold grillz in a pregame interview. Following in her sister’s footsteps, Satou Sabally also decided to get a similar grill on July 26.

The elder Sabally shared updates on social media about her new sparkling grillz, designed by the same artist who made Nyara's. Posting a picture of herself getting the grillz done, she wrote in the caption:

“I want to be like Nyara so bad."

Earlier, on July 20, Satou had posted a video on her Instagram story of Nyara displaying her Olympic-themed gold grillz on live television, captioning it:

“Nyara Sabally grill on German TV is top tier."

Satou's excitement about representing her country at the Olympics has been on display all over her social media. She also got her nails done in an Olympic theme, with the German flag and her jersey number.

Satou Sabally speaks about her on-court chemistry with sister Nyara Sabally

The Sabally sisters played crucial roles in helping Germany qualify for the Olympics for the first time in the country’s history. They beat Brazil in a qualifying game in February. However, Satou Sabally had a setback with a shoulder injury.

Although she hasn't appeared for the Dallas Wings in the 2024 WNBA season so far, she made a timely recovery for the Olympics. Satou feels fortunate to share the basketball court with her sister Nyara, who plays for the New York Liberty.

“It means everything. I love to share the court with her,” Satou told AP News on July 23rd. “We have an unspoken bond that we can play off each other. We saw it in February; we were like little kids again as we shared a room on the road.”

Satou also said that she had been working hard to return to the court for the past few weeks. Now fully healthy, she wants to put all her energy into enjoying playing in the Olympics.

The German team has a tough challenge ahead, as they are in the same pool as reigning champions Team USA. However, Nyara Sabally is ready to give her all without worrying about the outcome. She said that playing at the Olympics is itself a big achievement for women's basketball in Germany.
