"Forever grateful" - Breanna Stewart sends heartfelt birthday wish to wife Marta Xargay

New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt birthday wish for her wife Marta Xargay on Friday. The 3-time WNBA champion posted a series of pictures on social media as Marta celebrated her 34th birthday.

Sharing a five-image post on Instagram, Breanna expressed her love for Marta. The Liberty star captioned the post with a short and genuine note:

" Happy Birthday wifey! Forever grateful for you!!🫶🏻❤️ here’s to another year of laughter & memories☺️ @martaxargay" Stewart wrote.

The post featured images of Breanna and Marta in the Spaniard's home city of Girona as the couple posed for a picture in front of the Girona Cathedral. One of the slides also showed Breanna's former UConn teammate Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis. The 2018 WNBA champion was seen taking a selfie while Breanna and Marta shared a kiss in the background.

Furthermore, the posts highlighted special moments between Marta and Breanna, including a clip of Marta navigating through a tight parking spot. The post lastly featured a picture of the 2011 Euro League champion with her two kids that she shares with Breanna as they helped her unwrap a gift.

Breanna Stewart and Marta Xargay's relationship timeline

Breanna and Marta first kickstarted their relationship when the duo played in Russia for Dynamo Kursk. They started dating in 2019, and in May 2021, the couple announced that they were engaged as Breanna shared images of her popping the question. A few months later, in July, the couple got married in a private ceremony in New York.

The pair welcomed their first child, Ruby Mae Stewart Xargay, through surrogacy on August 8, 2021, a month after their marriage. During the star's pregnancy, a short YouTube film from TOGETHXR x Bleacher Report documented the journey of the couple sharing their experience as first-time parents.

Announcing the film and the birth of her child on Instagram Marta shared a short note:

"The best part of this year has been becoming a mother and growing a family with my incredible wife, @breannastewart30 . Excited to introduce Ruby, born on 8/9/21, to the world.Thank you to @togethxr for documenting our journey." she wrote.

The couple welcomed their second child, Theo Josep Stewart Xargay, on October 25, 2023.
