Belgium got off to a quick 4-0 start in the first quarter as Emma Meesseman got busy down low to give her team an early momentum to start the game. However, the home team would respond with a 6-0 run to tie the game up at eight apiece with 4:49 minutes to go in the first quarter.
France managed to weather Belgium's storm to finish the first quarter with only a three-point deficit.

Despite the strong showing, Belgium would come right back to cut the deficit to just a single point, forcing the home squad to call a timeout with just 2:55 minutes remaining in the first half.
Kyara Linskens gave Belgium the lead back with 2:22 minutes to go. The team capitalized on that to steer momentum in its favor to close the quarter strong. Belgium heads into the halftime break with a 36-31 lead.
Belgium opened their third quarter with a three-pointer to push the lead to 10 points. They improved their positioning to a 15-point lead that France managed to trim down back to just 10, courtesy of some timely stops and shotmaking.
Through some cold shooting from Belgium, the home team was right back in this game as they entered the fourth quarter with only a three-point deficit to overcome. With 8:56 minutes to go in the last stretch of the ball game, France got the lead back with two trips to the free-throw line.
With just 2:04 minutes remaining, the home team held a four-point lead in a highly competitive ball game against Belgium. All France had to do was to maintain composure and protect their lead but Belgium simply didn't back down.
Despite some offensive struggles with only a minute remaining, they were able to make it a three-point game at the 0:50 mark. With just nine seconds remaining, Belgium's Emma Meesseman knocks down a huge three-pointer to knot the game at 66 apiece.
Valeriane Ayayi came up short in a three-point attempt to win the game as both teams head into overtime. The home team got things going to start overtime with a fastbreak bucket from Gabby Williams. With 0:37 seconds remaining, Belgium came up short in converting any of their attempts, leading to a turnover that sealed their chances of winning.
France is scheduled to face the USA in the gold medal game on Sunday, Aug. 11, after defeating Belgium with a score of 81-75.
