Gabby Williams Stats Tonight: How did Storm forward perform in WNBA season debut vs Mystics

France star Gabby Williams made her season debut for the Seattle Storm in their 74-72 loss against the Washington Mystics at Climate Pledge Arena on Monday. Williams struggled offensively, finding it difficult to score during the game.

The forward didn't feature in the starting lineup and came off the bench at the 4:40 mark of the first quarter. The 2024 Paris Olympics silver medalist scored her first basket in style, executing a backdoor cut with 43 seconds left in the second quarter.

Williams finished the layup and drew a foul in the process. The former Chicago Sky player then stepped to the free-throw line and added another point for her team.

Williams' scoring struggles persisted in the second half, but the French forward found other ways to contribute to her team's success. The 27-year-old excelled on the defensive end and created several scoring opportunities for her teammates.

Fans react to Gabby Williams' performance

Hoops fans were split on Williams' performance in her season debut for the Storm. Some praised her effort, while others were surprised that the France star managed only three points despite playing over 25 minutes:

"That was a hell of a great game! Gabby Williams is amazing. Fantastic player. Emily Engstler needs to get more credit. She always brings it. Every damn game," a fan wrote.
"We’ve had a power outage for hours and I checked the score. How did they lose to the mystics and gabby williams played 20 some minutes with 3 pts?!" commented another fan.
"The defense from Gabby Williams will help Seattle but don't forget about the playmaking. Versatility fits right with their roster," another fan shed light on how Williams' all-around prowess is bound to help Seattle.

Meanwhile, the Storm dropped to fifth place in the league and third in the Western Conference standings after their loss to the Mystics. Seattle has won 18 of its 29 games this season.
