"Got some heat in the draft": A'ja Wilson has 'slick' reaction to fan's TikTok encounter
A’ja Wilson became one the best women’s basketball players in the world in recent years after winning three of the last five WNBA MVP awards. With more fans in the women’s basketball products, fans have now clamored for more social media presence from the Las Vegas Aces center.
On Sunday, Wilson reacted to a fan’s TikTok request on Threads. The fans asked the reigning WNBA MVP to post more videos on her TikTok account, which currently boasts over 411K followers.
“So when are you gonna start making more TikToks?” One fan said, in response to one of her Threads posts where she expressed her reactions to various TikTok trends right now.
Wilson teased the fan with the following response:
“Got some heat in my drafts.”
The post gained numerous reactions from her followers, which included one that posted a GIF of Miami Heat’s star Jimmy Butler, with rumored boyfriend Bam Adebayo in the background.
“Heat huh dropp em queen,” the fan wrote.
“That wording ain’t slick at all,” another fan wrote.
Adebayo and Wilson have long been rumored to be dating, as they were seen together at numerous events in the offseason. It started when the two were seen together during the 2024 Paris Olympics Games, where they both won gold medals in their respective sports.
Neither of the two basketball stars has confirmed or denied the rumors, but fans continue to speculate about their relationship.
Until then, the two players will continue with their careers. Adebayo leads the Heat in rebounds, steals and blocks per game. He is averaging 16.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.7 blocks per game.
Meanwhile, Wilson capped off the 2024 WNBA season with averages of 26.9 ppg, and 11.9 rpg for her third WNBA MVP nod with the Aces.
A’ja Wilson will not play in new Unrivalved league
Despite a reported massive offer, A’ja Wilson will not participate in the new 3x3 basketball league named Unrivaled. According to Sports Business Journal's Tom Friend, Wilson was offered a deal similar to that of Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.
“Sources are now telling SBJ that Wilson’s offer was for more money than Clark’s, but Wilson is still determined to take the winter off," the report said.
Wilson’s participation could have injected more star power into the new league, which is now headlined by Angel Reese, DiJonai Carrington, Natasha Cloud, Napheesa Collier, Kahleah Copper, and Skylar Diggins-Smith, among others.
The league will tip off on Jan. 17 in Miami. Wilson’s absence from the new league will allow her to recuperate for what is expected to be another contending year next season.
