In Photos: Bam Adebayo and A'ja Wilson step out in contrasting style while running errands in Indiana
A'ja Wilson made history when she surpassed Storm guard Jewell Loyd's single-season scoring record of 939 points on Wednesday. She was spotted with Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo hours after her record-breaking night. TMZ snapped some pictures of the two athletes taking a stroll together in the streets of Indianapolis.
The images captured by the paparazzi showed the two carrying a couple of food bags while walking alongside one another. The last time they were spotted in public was in Paris when the Heat center and the Aces star competed in the Olympics.
The TMZ photos of Wilson and Adebayo were reshared on Instagram by a user named 2cool2bl0g.
A'ja Wilson is feeling relieved that the media will stop talking about his record-breaking potential
A'ja Wilson made sure she put on a show in front of the away crowd while playing against rookie sensation Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. She poured on 27.0 points (51.9% shooting), 12.1 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.
The Aces superstar has 956 points and feels relaxed after constantly hearing anticipation from the media en route to her record-breaking outing, per Sports Illustrated's Shandel Richardson.
"It feels great because now people will stop talking about," Wilson said. "Felt like it was just lingering, so I'm glad that we got it done."
Her performance also came in an 86-75 victory, which continued the team's winning streak to five straight. It wasn't an accolade that Wilson was desperate to secure but more of an accomplishment she wanted to be through with.
The two-time MVP now focuses on helping her team finish the season with a strong positioning in the WNBA playoffs.
A'ja Wilson talked about what winning her third MVP would mean to her
While interviewing with Bleacher Report's Scott Polacek in July, A'ja Wilson discussed what it would feel like to be alongside WNBA greats and win an MVP award. After finishing fourth place in last year's voting, the Aces star started this season with a drive to bring the award home.
"It would be incredible," Wilson posted. "Just having talks with those GOATs and those Hall of Famers has been truly special, and to now have a chance for my name to be alongside them at such a young age is something I don't take for granted. I know what this game means to me and how special it is to them."
Wilson has already accomplished so much playing in her seventh season in the league.
