The USA has taken the women's basketball tournament by storm with some dominating performances in the opening round. The team is yet to face a major challenge at the competition with wins over Japan (102-76), Belgium (87-74) and Germany 87-68.
Coach Cheryl Reeve will be hoping her team can maintain the same intensity when it faces Nigeria on Wednesday. A win in that upcoming quarterfinal would mean Team USA would be just two wins away from a historic eighth consecutive gold medal.
Kelsey Plum was a member of the USA's 3x3 team that won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics
Several of the current USA women's roster were part of the 2021 team that won a Olympic gold medal including Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart and A'ja Wilson. Kelsey Plum, however, was not a member of that side and will be looking to claim her first medal in the five versus five format.
Plum was at the previous Olympics and does have a gold medal to her name. The Las Vegas Aces guard was a member of the 3x3 USA team that took home the gold in Tokyo.
