In Pictures: Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart & other Liberty players take charge in custom Off-White jackets for clash vs Dream
The Milan-based luxury fashion company Off-White officially became the New York Liberty's "Official Style and Culture Curator" on Sunday. Ahead of Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs, Liberty's players entered the Barclays Center in their first-ever official team jackets, designed by Off-White.
Before the game against the Atlanta Dream, the team's social media page posted a series of pictures featuring their star players in the varsity jackets. Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart and other players posed for photos before heading to the locker room.
The jacket has a unique combination of black, white and green with all the text written in green. Almost all players paired the jacket with a black lower.
Off-White is a luxurious clothing brand that was founded by iconic American fashion designer Virgil Abloh in 2013. The brand is based in Italy and it is the first time that the company has signed a partnership with a US sports team.
Rookie Leonie Fiebich stars in Liberty's Game 1 win vs Dream
The New York Liberty played their first game of the playoffs against the Atlanta dream on Sunday. With all of their stars showing up big in Game 1, New York defeated the Dream 83-69.
Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Betnijah Laney all played top-tier basketball in the game. However, New York rookie Leonie Fiebich emerged as the star of the contest. Playing in her first-ever playoff game, Fiebich scored a game-high 21 points for her team.
In just 25 minutes on the floor, Fiebich made 7 of her 8 shots from the field, while making all of her 4 three-point shots attempted in the game. She also had two steals in the game.
Breanna Stewart scored 20 points behind Fiebich with 21 points. Stewart had her impact on both ends of the floor registering 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks in the game. Ionescu scored 17 points and had 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 26 minutes.
Rhyne Howard was the highest scorer for the Dream, with 14 points. Tina Charles [12] was the only other player for the Dream who scored in double digits.
New York and the Dream will face each other again three days later on September 25. The game will be played at Barclays Center as the Dream would try to take the second game to even the series.
