Kate Martin shows love to Caitlin Clark with 3-word reaction on latest IG photo dump

Las Vegas Aces’ guard Kate Martin and Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark built strong ties during their Iowa Hawkeyes days. Still keeping in touch despite their respective busy WNBA schedules, Martin left a three-word comment for Clark on her latest Instagram post.

Clark posted on Instagram for almost a month on Monday, sharing some snaps from her games in the past month as the Fever climbed to an above .500 record and qualified for the playoffs.

Martin commented on the post, reacting to her friend’s recent achievements.

“You amaze me,” Martin said.

Clark's post also garnered numerous comments from other basketball players including teamamte Aliyah Boston, Flau'jae Johnson, Liz Kitley, Jada Gyamfi, and Gabbie Marshall.

Spending four seasons together in college, the two have been close friends throughout their first season in the WNBA. Clark went first overall in the 2024 draft, before breaking various records to lead the Fever to new heights this season, while Martin spent most of her season outside of the Aces’ rotation.

Clark averages 19.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 1.3 steals this season. On the other hand, Martin averages 2.4 points, and 1.5 rebounds on 10.9 minutes of playing in 33 games.

However, Martin’s Aces have garnered more wins this season than Clark’s Fever, boasting a 25-13 record. The Fever is also locked on a playoff spot with a 20-19 slate.

If the Aces, which stands at the fourth seed, climbed to the number three spot, Martin would face Clark and the Fever in the first-round playoff series.

Caitlin Clark felt weird playing against “best friend” Kate Martin

The Indiana Fever hosted the Las Vegas Aces for back-to-back games on September 13 and 15, where Clark and Martin caught up with each other.

Despite losing both games, Clark enjoyed seeing Martin with the Aces. She expressed how she loved sharing the court with her best friend, despite finding their matchups weird following years of playing together.

"It's definitely fun for us, it's fun for a lot of fans in the Midwest that cheered us on while we were in college. It's cool to see one of your best friends live out her dream and then get to play against each other,” Clark said.
"At the same time, it's definitely pretty weird for us. We were teammates for four years, we got pretty used to that," the Fever star added.

The Fever has one game remaining in the regular season, while the Aces have two left before the playoff positions are officially determined.
