"Might mess around" - Sabrina Ionescu teases special skill upgrade ahead of 2025 WNBA season
New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu posted a workout routine on Instagram on Thursday highlighting her ambidexterity as she continues to prepare for the 2025 WNBA season.
Sharing a clip of her off-season workout Ionescu could be spotted practicing some shooting drills. The 27-year-old shot only with her left hand and captioned the story:
"Might mess around and switch lefty next season 🤩"
Ionescu could be seen wearing a cast on her shooting hand as she underwent thumb surgery earlier this month. The guard suffered an ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) tear in her right thumb during Game 4 of the WNBA Finals and went under the knife to have it fixed.
Ionescu played an integral part in Liberty's title-winning run. Averaging 18.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.2 assists during the regular season, she averaged 16.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg and 5.3 apg in the post-season.
Sabrina Ionescu reflects on 2024 with a birthday post
Sabrina Ionescu reflected on her year in an Instagram post last week. The former Oregon star turned 27, on December 6 and shared a collection of images from her eventful year.
In her post recapping her year, she said:
" 26, thank you ✨. Married my best friend, won a gold medal 🥇, and a WNBA championship 🏆 all in the same year. God is good. Beyond grateful for everything this year had to offer, and thankful for everyone (who is) a part of my circle. 27… Let’s get it!"
Sabrina and the New York Liberty finally ended their wait for a WNBA title and won the finals against the Minnesota Lynx. Despite losing Kayla Thorton to the Golden State Valkyries during the expansion draft, the Liberty still has enough depth to go back-to-back.
