NaLyssa Smith shares emotional reaction to star teammate's latest heroics for Indiana Fever: "Im yo biggest fan 0"

The Indiana Fever have been electric since the resumption of the WNBA season, and NaLyssa Smith could not contain her excitement after another remarkable display from her teammate on Sunday.

In a closely contested game against the Dallas Wings, Kelsey Mitchell came clutch. She finished with 30 points on 12/21 shooting and drilled six 3-pointers to lead her team to a 110-109 victory. After the game, Smith shared an emotional reaction to her teammate's heroic performance.

"im yo biggest fan 0 😭," Smith wrote.

Mitchell, who wears the No. 0 jersey, was outstanding against the Wings. Indiana trailed for large portions of the game, but the sharpshooter came through with some big shots in the third and fourth quarters.

Mitchell is the Fever's leading scorer this season. The 28-year-old Ohio native is averaging 19.6 points per game over 39 games, putting her just ahead of rookie Caitlin Clark, who is averaging 19.5 points. Mitchell has racked up an impressive 763 points. She ranks seventh in the WNBA in points per game, just behind the Seattle Storm's Jewell Loyd.

NaLyssa Smith and Kelsey Mitchell have built a strong relationship after playing alongside each other over the last three seasons in Indiana. The Fever players have developed great team chemistry, and a big part of that is due to the support these players offer each other on and off the court.

After an impressive college career at Baylor University, the Indiana Fever selected NaLyssa Smith with the second overall pick in the 2022 WNBA draft. The forward made an instant impact in the league and was named to the All-Rookie team in her first year in the pros.

This season, Smith is averaging 10.4 points, 7.2 and 1.1 assists over 39 games.

The Fever have built a talented roster, and a big part of that is due to their scouting department and draft picks over the last few years. Smith, 24, is part of an exciting young core in Indiana.

In 2023, the Fever selected center Aliyah Boston, 22, with the first overall pick. This year, they picked up the NCAA's all-time scoring leader, Caitlin Clark, who is just 22 years old.

The future looks bright for the Indiana Fever. The team has qualified for the postseason this year for the first time since 2016. With some talented young stars on the roster like Smith, Clark and Boston, expect Indiana to be competitive for many years to come.
