"Only person who can help LeBron" - Fans react candidly to Caitlin Clark's AI-generated image in Lakers jersey
An AI-generated image of Caitlin Clark wearing an LA Lakers jersey is making the rounds online. Clark is one of the most popular basketball players in the world, taking over the WNBA as a rookie. Despite being in the offseason, fans can't stop talking about the Indiana Fever rookie.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, LeLaker shared an AI-generated image of Clark donning the classic purple and yellow jersey of the legendary franchise. Even though the uploader was a Lakers fan, he couldn't help but take a shot at his own team.
"The only person who can help LeBron and the Lakers," the account tweeted.
The LA Lakers do need a player like Caitlin Clark, who can shoot the ball from beyond the arc. The Lakers have been looking for shooters since 2021 but have failed to acquire players like Buddy Hield and Klay Thompson. That's why some fans jokingly agreed that the Lakers should sign Clark.
"Don't give me hope," a fan tweeted.
"F*ck it trade DLo and Rui," one fan wrote.
"Instantly the best player on the team," another fan claimed.
Caitlin Clark was named the Rookie of the Year at the end of the season and finished fourth in WNBA MVP voting. She was also named the Athlete of the Year by TIME Magazine, which was awarded to LeBron James in 2020.
Fans continued to pile on the Lakers, who are fifth in the Western Conference, at 16-12.
"Honestly sign her to a ten day," a fan suggested.
"@JeanieBuss At this point MAKE IT HAPPEN," one fan demanded.
"Y? Just another first round exit," another fan remarked.
The LA Lakers are expected to be active at the trade deadline, while the Indiana Fever will have a busy free agency. The Fever, meanwhile, have cap space to sign more talent to surround Caitlin Clark.
Indiana Fever GM explains why they let go of Caitlin Clark's teammate Temi Fagbenle
One of the most surprising moves of the 2024 WNBA Expansion Draft was the Indiana Fever choosing not to protect Temi Fagbenle. The veteran center was one of Caitlin Clark's best teammates last season as a rim runner who could finish near the basket.
Clark and Fagbenle seemed to be in sync on the court most of the time, but the Fever have other plans, according to general manager Amber Cox.
"You know, it's really part of an overall plan, which hopefully, everybody will see unfold during the offseason," Cox said on the 'In Case You Missed It' podcast with Khristina Williams.
"The Expansion Draft is difficult. It's hard to lose a player. ... But again, part of a bigger plan that I hope everyone will get to see unfold as we get into the rest of the offseason."
The Fever overhauled their front office by signing a new president and general manager, as well as hiring Stephanie White as coach.
