LeBron James and the USA Men's Basketball Team won the gold medal after defeating France in the Olympic final, with A'Ja Wilson in attendance to give her support. The LA Lakers superstar has returned the favor as he is in the building to cheer on Wilson and the women's team as they face France in the gold medal game.
National NBA writer Ben Golliver posted a picture of James on X, where he can be seen hugging WNBA legend Lisa Leslie. Leslie is a two-time WNBA champion and a two-time WNBA Finals MVP.
She played for 12 years with the LA Sparks and also won three regular season MVP awards during her career. Leslie is currently the head coach of the Triplets in the BIG3 League since 2019.
2011 NBA champion Dirk Nowitzki is at the women's basketball gold medal game, and can also be seen in the photo.
LeBron James now has four Olympic medals, including three golds. He won a bronze in the 2004 Athens Olympics. The NBA's all-time leading scorer was also named the MVP of the Olympic basketball tournament in France.
A'Ja Wilson reacts to LeBron James' game-worn shoe in gold medal game
What James was aiming at in the gold medal game against France was evident in his shoe selection. He rocked two'LeBron 22' pairs for the Olympic final as he started the game in a blue/metallic colorway and sported a gold/chrome tint later in the matchup — both PE versions.
Wilson took to her Instagram story and reacted to the first pair James wore. She reposted a photo from Complex Sneakers and captioned it,
"STOP ITTTT."
The two-time WNBA MVP also posted a picture of the men's team celebrating their gold medal win. She added the caption,
"Gold."
The women's team has won seven consecutive gold medals and this year is their eighth straight appearance in the gold medal game at the Olympics.
