"Pretty obvious WNBA does not like Clark" - Fans up in arms after NBA pounces in on Caitlin Clark coverage
Some fans are convinced that the WNBA doesn't like their most marketable and popular player, Caitlin Clark. They noticed that the NBA heavily promoted Clark during her appearance on Monday's Indiana Pacers game against the New Orleans Pelicans at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Indiana basketball beat writer Scott Agness reported that NBA commissioner Adam Silver will be in attendance for the Pacers-Pelicans game. Agness added that Clark and her boyfriend Connor McCaffery will be courtside to show their support.
Silver praised Clark on Pacers TV, as per Agness.
"Caitlin Clark set the world on fire, not just this community. She's brought so much attention to the entire league. People are seeing how deep this league is, how good the qualify of basketball is. ... It's wonderful to see."
Fans quickly pointed out how the NBA and the Indiana Pacers continued to promote Caitlin Clark. Some are even baffled why the WNBA is showing her presence during the offseason, which includes two pro-am golf tournament appearances and Butler home games.
"Pretty obvious WNBA does not like Clark. They need to replace their commissioner," a fan replied.
"It’s pathetic. Petty jealousy ….. is going to be the downfall of this league. It's so stupid," one fan claimed.
"They really want their league to be how it was pre=CC. Just a few eyes and not leveling up. If they got out of their own way, the league could be much better. It's a shame," another tweeted.
There's no question that Caitlin Clark's popularity translated from college to the pros. Teams were selling out arenas whenever Clark was in town, with some even changing to bigger venues to accommodate more people.
"When Caitlin got hundreds of thousands of views playing golf, and the WNBA didn't post about it, I lost all hope in their social media team," a fan wrote.
"If the WNBA posted what Adam said, all hell would freeze over," one fan quipped.
"They're too busy finding creative ways to misspell her name," another fan joked.
Despite wanting a break from the spotlight, Clark remains a part of the headlines this offseason. Her appearance at The Annika drew attention, while she's almost a regular during Pacers and Butler games this season.
Pacers beat Pelicans with Caitlin Clark in attendance
Caitlin Clark was shown a few times during the Indiana Pacers-New Orleans Pelicans game on Monday.
Clark was hyped after Tyrese Haliburton hit a 3-point shot as the Pacers star got out of his slump. Haliburton finished with 34 points and 13 assists, making nine shots from beyond the arc.
Clark, along with Haliburton, has revitalized basketball in the state of Indiana. Clark will be entering her second WNBA season next year, while Haliburton and the Pacers are trying to shake off a slow start to the campaign as they improve to 8-10 following their 114-110 win over the Pelicans.
