Sabrina Ionescu hypes up 4x All-Pro's son over wearing her trendsetting shoes
Over the past few years, Sabrina Ionescu has begun rolling out her signature shoe line with Nike. Recently, the WNBA star showed love to the son of a former pro athlete for donning her sneakers.
Ionescu's shoes draw a lot of inspiration from Kobe Bryant, someone who was a good friend and mentor to her before his tragic death. Because of this, they have become a big hit among the younger generation of basketball fans.
Late Sunday night, NaVorro Bowman Jr. posted a collage of photos on his Instagram from his sophomore season in high school. Spotting her shoes, Sabrina Ionescu decided to shout him out in the comment section.
Bowman Jr's father had a successful pro career, but now on the hardwood. He made a name for himself in the NFL, being named to four All-Pro teams across eight seasons. Bowman spent the majority of his career with the San Francisco 49ers but played his final games with the Oakland Raiders.
As for Ionescu, she is coming off one of her best years as a pro. She was named an All-Star for a third straight season, won a gold medal with Team USA in the Olympics and helped lead the New York Liberty to a WNBA title.
Sabrina Ionescu's shoes have seen massive growth in the past year
Along with having a lot of success on the court, Sabrina Ionescu's endorsement deals are thriving as well. Earlier this year, an eye-popping stat was revealed regarding her shoe sales.
Ionescu signed with the iconic shoe brand back in April of 2020, not long after she was selected No. 1 overall by the Liberty in the WNBA Draft. The deal included her own line of signature shoes, which are currently going through a massive boom period.
Over the summer, Sabrina Ionescu dropped the second sneaker of her signature line. It has become a big hit among basketball players at all levels, with even NBA players donning the shoe.
With so many people taking a liking to the shoe, Ionescu's sales have skyrocketed. It was announced in October that her numbers have multiplied by five in the last year alone.
Having just turned 27 earlier this month, Ionescu is in the early stages of her prime. As her popularity continues to grow, so should the sales of her signature shoes.
Seeing how well the "Sabrina 2" has done, it likely won't be the last time Nike rolls out a shoe for the Liberty star.
