Sabrina Ionescu jokingly asks for extra seat at Justin Timberlake's concert after Barclays shoutout
Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty are going to the WNBA Finals for the second time in two years. The Liberty star and her team got a shoutout from singer Justin Timberlake before his concert at the Barclays Center.
In a video posted by the New York Liberty on Instagram, the "Like I Love You" singer first thanked the team for giving the arena for a concert in the arena. He also hilariously said that he will keep the arena warm for the team when they come back. Timberlake also sent a shoutout to the team for their next game.
After watching the pop star's special message, Ionescu made the most of the occasion. She asked Timberlake in the comment section if there was an extra ticket she could get for the concert.
Although she didn't get any reply to her comment, it shouldn't be that difficult for the Liberty star to get a ticket for herself. After all, she is one of the biggest stars of the Barclays Center and that counts for something.
Sabrina Ionescu says Las Vegas Aces made the Liberty a better team and her a better player
Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty took out defending champions Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA semifinals. This was the second time in two years that the Aces and the Liberty met in playoffs, after last year's WNBA Finals face-off.
The Liberty was the best team in the league this regular season and they have played like one in the postseason. After eliminating the Aces, Ionescu told the media that their rivals made Liberty better.
"They've made us a better team," Ionescu said. "For me, particularly, as someone who's been part of this new generation, I wasn't able to watch the Minnesota Lynx and those teams when they were on their run when I was younger. I wasn't really part of the league."
Ionescu also had great words for the Aces. She gave them the props for their back-to-back championships in 2022 and 2023.
"Now, being part of the league and seeing their excellence year after year — to do what they've done is not easy. We've gotten there and lost, they've gotten there and won twice. It's a testament to their togetherness, their experience."
Unlike her teammate Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu has never won a title in her career. Stewart won two titles with the Seattle Storm. This will be the second time that Ionescu and the Liberty will have a shot at the title. They will wait for the winner of the Minnesota Lynx and the Connecticut Sun to face in the Finals.
