Sheryl Swoopes throws A'ja Wilson in GOAT debate after Aces center's 1,000-point season milestone: "Hell of a player"

A'ja Wilson's 1000-point season milestone has been a topic of discussion with how impressive her season has been, which even WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes has commended.

During her appearance on the "Gil's Arena" podcast, she praised what Wilson has been putting forth on the court and considered her a welcome addition to the "Greatest of All Time" debate.

Several WNBA players in the league's history have made strong cases in their positioning with the legends of the game. Whether it was from the previous eras or the modern generation, Swoopes believes Wilson is more than deserving to be discussed alongside other prominent players of the league.

"She scored 1000 points in a season. One season," Swoopes said, "which has never been done before. ...'A'ja is on a whole another level. ... I think people use the term 'GOAT' for anybody that's a really good player. ... I would say she's absolutely in the conversation because what she's doing this season has never been done before."

Despite only placing fourth place in last season's MVP voting, that hasn't stopped A'ja Wilson from coming back stronger than ever this season. With the kind of year she's having, Wilson is in a strong position to bring home her third regular-season MVP award.

She has already been dominant this season at both ends of the court and adding a historic accolade of scoring 1000 points in a single season is a nice addition on top of it all.

Dawn Staley revealed the time A'ja Wilson asked her for Sheryl Swoopes' number

During an interview with CBS Sports, six-time WNBA All-Star Dawn Staley recalled the time that Aces superstar A'ja Wilson asked for Sheryl Swoopes' number. She wanted to get some insight with a back-to-back championship mindset in mind.

"She's probably going to kill me for saying this, but it actually brought me to tears," Swoopes said. "She texted me probably a week ago, that was before Game 1 of the Finals, and she asked me for Swoopes' number. She said, 'I need her number, because I want to know how to repeat.'"

It's not easy to win two straight championships, especially considering the numerous factors that have to go right in order to achieve such a thing.

Before Wilson and the Aces secured last year's title against Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty, Wilson wanted to get into the proper thought process to achieve the team's main goal.

In her first four seasons playing for the Houston Comets, Swoopes won four straight championships with the club to establish herself as one of the most pivotal players to play for the franchise.
