Despite the offensive struggles they went through, coupled with France's unwavering belief that it could pull off an upset win, Wilson and Team USA were successful in making timely plays at both ends of the court.

The ball club entered this year's Olympics with immense pressure to win its eighth straight gold medal since 1996. France gave the matchup its all as it imposed its will defensively to hamper the USA's offensive process. That resulted in shotmaking shortcomings and costly turnovers, but the entire team came through when it was time to seal the deal.

Wilson finished as the MVP of the women's basketball competition, finishing with an impressive stat line of 18.7 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.
