Watch: Cameron Brink poses with St. Vincent's custom Sparks-themed guitar during Liberty game
Although she's been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury, Cameron Brink was still present at Crypto.com Arena for the Los Angeles Sparks' first game back from the All-Star/Olympic break against the New York Liberty on Thursday. The Sparks came into the game near the bottom of the WNBA standings, with a record of 6-18.
Despite their record, the stars will always be out for Los Angeles basketball. Singer St. Vincent was at the game, and she showed off a Sparks-themed guitar to Cameron Brink before tip-off.
After the two posed for some pictures, St. Vincent handed off the custom guitar to Brink, who struck a few poses with it.
Cameron Brink has been unable to suit up for the Sparks after suffering a season-ending ACL tear back in June.
The Sparks selected Brink with the No. 2 overall pick in the WNBA Draft and the rookie forward started all 15 of the games she played for Los Angeles this season. Brink averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 22 minutes a night.
Cameron Brink-less Sparks lose to Liberty in first game back from All-Star break
The Sparks started the second half of their season on the wrong foot, suffering a blowout loss to the WNBA's best team in the Liberty.
New York defeated Los Angeles 103-68 led by strong efforts from Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu. Stwart and Ionescu combined for 45 points, while the Sparks were led by a double-double from Dearica Hamby.
In 30 minutes, Hamby posted 14 points, 13 rebounds and five assists, shooting 6-12 from the field and 1-2 from beyond the arc.
The Sparks drop to 6-19 on the season and will run through a gauntlet in their next three games, facing the Chicago Sky, Las Vegas Aces, and Connecticut Sun.
The Sparks now sit just a half-game ahead of the Washington Mystics and Dallas Wings, who are currently tied for the worst record in the WNBA at 6-20.
The Sparks will likely miss the WNBA playoffs for the fourth straight season as they begin to look ahead to the 2024-25 season.
