On the season front, Ionescu and the Liberty were the first team to make the 2024 WNBA playoffs, and boast of a 27-6 overall record — the best in the league so far. They have been the team to beat this season, and boast of a solid 14-2 home record. They are one of the teams expected to win the championship this time after missing out on the silverware last year to the Las Vegas Aces.

Sabrina Ionescu talks about Kobe Bryant: "He had such attention to detail"

One of the well-detailed reports about Sabrina Ionescu is about her friendship with the Kobe Bryant family, and how the late LA Lakers legend honed his skills to become one of the greatest basketball players to have played the sport. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, shed light on how meticulous Bryant was, and what she learned from the 'Black Mamba' when she trained with him.

"We had worked out together a few times, and he came to visit me when [Oregon] played in LA. He had such attention to detail, just all the small fundamental things: the footwork, the arc of your shot when you fadeaway —all those minute details that play into being one of the greatest basketball players in the world, which he was.
"I was like a sponge, just trying to listen, super into the kind of details that I obsess over. I love being able to learn and take it all in."

This season, Sabrina Ionescu is averaging 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists. The guard is shooting 41.4% from the field, and 34.% from the deep. Up next, she plays the Seattle Storm for a two-game series, followed by a marquee matchup against the Las Vegas Aces.
