"Way worse than anything I seen a female do": Chennedy Carter vents out frustrating gender bias over Jordan Clarkson-Ron Holland altercation
Chennedy Carter called out the gender bias prevalent in the basketball community. The Chicago Sky star posted an Instagram story on Friday, sharing a video of Jordan Clarkson and Ron Holland's altercation.
She voiced her frustrations in the caption.
"But when emotions get to women y'all grt opinions. It's funny tho," Carter wrote.
"It don't even get this bad like squaring up in a game way worse than anything I seen a female do. Go cry about it."
Carter and Caitlin Clark were involved in a heated moment last season. The Sky star bumped into the Fever rookie off the ball, and fans heavily criticized Carter for it.
However, the Jordan Clarkson-Ron Holland altercation was not similar. The Jazz guard squared up against Holland with both his arms near his chest.
Chennedy Carter can force the Chicago Sky to enter a rebuilding phase
While many WNBA players are enjoying the offseason or gearing up to play in the Unrivaled 3x3 basketball league, Chennedy Carter is putting up strong performances in China. The Sky shooting guard was arguably the best player on her team last season. She averaged a team-high 17.5 points, along with 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
However, Carter's future with the Sky is uncertain. She is a restricted free agent with a big decision to make. In November, Carter shared a cryptic message hinting about a potential team switch in the future.
The Sky front office fired Teresa Weatherspoon after they failed to make the playoffs. They brought in former Las Vegas Aces assistant coach Tyler Marsh, and as excited as he is to develop the talents of young players like Angel Reese and Kamila Cardoso, he hasn't said much about Carter's role.
The Chicago Sky needs a bucket-getter to play alongside Reese and Cardoso, who are more defense-oriented players. If Carter decides to sign with another team, the Sky will have to quickly find a replacement for her or build around Reese and Cardoso.
