"What happened to this energy about CC??": Fans react after video of Angel Reese and others picking Caitlin Clark over Shaquille O'Neal resurfaces
WNBA fans have expressed their opinions on a resurfaced video of Angel Reese and other players picking Caitlin Clark over Shaquille O'Neal during the WNBA draft. On Sunday, a fan posted a video of an interviewer who went around the WNBA draft red carpet and asked the players who they thought would win a blindfolded 3-point contest between O'Neal and Clark.
All the women featured in the video took Clark's side, including her rival from the Windy City, Angel Reese.
"I'm going Caitlin Clark," Reese said. "I gotta get realistic here, It doesn't matter she blindfolded, she gonna make it."
One fan highlighted the excitement the players had in the past when they talked about Clark.
"What happened to this energy about CC?? The W players could have literally learnt from the rookies. Everyone looked so excited even talking about her."
Another fan praised the 2024 rookie batch, calling it the best one yet.
"Why they didn't post this at the start? Man these rookies were ALL fire. Like I think 2024 was the best rookie year for all rookies," @tothesidetheygo said.
"this is so cute, they all kept it real," @sagepalmer3658 said.
"They all know. We all know," @idrinkcoffeeblk said.
One fan took Shaq's side while another showed empathy for the NBA icon.
"Prime Shaq is smoking her," @RoscoeJ90969218 said.
"Why interviewer doing Shaq like that," @SirLaBerry99 said.
While many players in the video chose Clark, the Indiana Fever rookie chose Shaq as the winner of the matchup.
Shaquille O'Neal showers praise on Caitlin Clark while comparing her to an NBA superstar
NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal has been an Angel Reese supporter for quite some time now. Although he has made some controversial remarks about Caitlin Clark in the past, he is a believer in the Indiana Fever rookie's abilities.
While talking to USA Today, Shaq praised the former Iowa Hawkeyes phenom and compared her to Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry.
"When I see stuff on TV, I’m like, OK, I’d like to see it in person. Well, I saw it in person," the LA Lakers legend said. "She can play... from a basketball standpoint, she makes all the right plays, gets everybody involved, and she has that Steph Curry range."
Caitlin Clark had an incredible rookie season in the WNBA. The Fever star won the Rookie of the Year award and helped her team make the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
