"Y'all disrespecting Messi man": Fans react to Angel Reese narrating star-studded ad ft. LeBron James, Serena Williams and more
Along with being one of the top rookies in the WNBA this season, Angel Reese has become a prominent figure in pop culture. She had the chance to narrate a commercial, which was not met with a warm reception by fans.
In its latest ad promoting a line of wireless headphones, "Beats by Dre" brought in Reese to do some vocal work. The commercial featured some of the top sports stars, including herself. Others who made an appearance included Lionel Messi, Shohei Ohtani, Serena Williams and Bronny and LeBron James.
As the commercial made the rounds on social media, fans did not hold back their thoughts on Reese being selected to narrate.
"Narrated by the most dumb boring b**ch, y'all disrespecting Messi, man," a fan said.
Other fans touched on the tireless work Reese has put in to help grow her brand outside of basketball.
"Angel your manager needs a really good Christmas present sister," one fan said.
"Who is her agents she gettin to the bag fr," another fan said.
"Angel Reese’ team is on a generational branding run," said one fan.
Reese is coming off an impressive rookie campaign with the Chicago Sky after being drafted No. 7 overall. She was named an All-Star, took home the rebounding title and was named to an All-Rookie team.
Angel Reese makes post following release of Beats by Dre commercial
Among those to re-share the commercial online was Angel Reese herself. She made a post on X (formerly Twitter) about getting the chance to narrate this star-studded ad.
"Athletes get it. Narrated by ME."
Getting featured in this commercial is just one of the many opportunities that have surfaced for Reese in recent months. Towards the end of last season, she launched her podcast. More recently, Reese inked an extension with Reebok, and the company will release her signature shoe in 2026.
Reese will be among the notable names helping grow the newest women's basketball league, Unrivaled, which Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier created. It is set to begin in January 2025.
Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 league that will take place in Miami, was created by the two WNBA stars in hopes of getting more attention on women's basketball. They've secured a handful of big names to play in the inaugural season, including Reese.
Reese managed to break into the mainstream in her first year in the WNBA. Her relentless effort to expand her brand should bode well for the league's growth as its popularity continues to rise.
