WWE NXT Results

NXT or Tuesday Night NXT is a developmental brand or the third brand of the WWE. Like Monday Night RAW and Friday Night SmackDown, it has a roster of wrestlers dedicated to the brand. It was first introduced on February 23, 2010, and since then has changed many times to get its current format. It airs every Tuesday on the USA Network at 8 PM ET. It lasts 120 minutes (Two hours) including commercials. It also has a supplementary television show by the name of NXT Level Up, which spans about sixty minutes. Superstars on the NXT roster make appearances on NXT Level Up.

WWE NXT History

WWE had three programs in 2010 named RAW, SmackDown, and ECW. It also had a developmental territory named Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). In February 2010, it shut down ECW and announced to replace it with a new program. NXT took its place on SyFy as a game competition featuring superstars from WWE and FCW. It went under a major overhaul in 2012, when WWE shut down FCW and made NXT its developmental territory.

Since then, WWE NXT has been the developmental roster for WWE and has also acted as its third brand. It also started its own chain of pro-wrestling events by the name of TakeOver. The show ran as its 2012 version up until 2019 when it was promoted as the third brand and even took part in that year’s Survivor Series. Since then, the show has aired on USA Network. NXT has mostly been operated by Triple H since its inception. However, he went away from work in 2021 due to medical issues and at that time, the show was changed from NXT to NXT 2.0 and was again made into a developmental brand.

Upon Triple H’s return, NXT also returned to its previous form and dropped 2.0 from its name. NXT currently airs on USA Network and reportedly its deal with NBC Universal is set to expire very soon.

Wednesday Night Wars against Dynamite

The Wednesday Night Wars was a former rating war between WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite that both once took place on Wednesday Nights. The rating war lasted from October 2, 2019, the day the first episode of AEW Dynamite took place to April 7, 2021, the day after which NXT moved to Tuesday Nights.

While it is generally accepted that Dynamite won this war, it is worth mentioning that NXT has been WWE’s third programming in contrast to Dynamite being AEW’s premium show. Nonetheless, this has become the foundation of AEW’s success as it has truly stood out as a promotion that can rival the popularity of WWE. Wednesday Night Wars was the first direct competition between two big wrestling promotions after 2010 when TNA Impact and WWE Monday Night Wars both took place on Mondays. Furthermore, this is considered the only war since Wednesday Night Wars where WWE faced defeats as well.

WWE NXT Roster

WWE NXT has a dedicated roster like RAW and SmackDown. It is safe to say that it follows the brand extension more strictly than either of the other two brands because RAW and SmackDown act as the main roster and usually trade stars with each other.

On the other hand, NXT operates separately with its own roster even if there is no brand extension in force.
